Aspen Software Leadership Summit Recap

Aspen Software Leadership Summit Recap

By June 1, 2017Engineering

Last week Juan and I went to Aspen to attend the Software Leadership Summit.  The summit gathered a diverse set of  engineering leaders from Fortune 100, startups and consultantcies.

I gave a talk about swarms, our innovative process to work through challenging problems, that was well received by the group.  The group was brought together to discuss our greatest challenges and common solutions.  What made this summit so powerful was that it was under Chatham house rules, where participants are free to use the information received, but neither the identity nor the affiliation of the speaker(s), nor that of any other participant, may be revealed.  So we were able to discuss issues that were typically discussed “behind closed doors”.  Some of the other topics discussed where:

  • Engineering operations
  • DevOps best practices
  • Estimating engineering work
  • Mobile development
  • Balancing Design and Engineering
  • Machine Learning
  • Polyglot development

Below are some thoughts from Pete Erickson (founder of MoDev), Juan Valencia (Engineering Tech Lead) and Isaac Mosquera (SVP Engineering)
